Back to West Hatch
‘Back to West Hatch’ is a substantial capital project that will provide a home for the future of the West Hatch Scout Group. Funding is sought to repair the former Wesleyan chapel in Slough Green, West Hatch that we bought in 1951 as our HQ.
Until a few years ago regular meetings were held there, but for modern day scouting it became no longer fit for purpose and is now beginning to fall into disrepair.
The land adjacent to the chapel came up for sale in 2010 and the Group were fortunate enough to be able to purchase this, with a vision to create a base that would return our scouting to the village of West Hatch. Our vision grew to build a hall constructed of timber which would provide more space and opportunities for the Group, whilst retaining the historic chapel as a local landmark.
The site is a wonderful asset and we would love to utilise it. Some of our leaders and committee members were original cubs at West Hatch and would love to be able to camp here again with our group.
West Hatch Scout Group have been running continuously since 1932. Our group currently has a membership of approximately 90 young people and leaders. The Scout Association is the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation. It provides wonderful opportunities for the young to develop in so many ways; physically, mentally, encourages teamwork, instils independence, building friendships, confidence and so much more.
Our children gain so much from being members of West Hatch Scout Group, please help us to raise funds to restore and renovate our original base, Wesleyan Chapel, it would mean so much to us all!
